As of 2026-05-31, electrical service panel upgrades in San José require an electrical permit and a final inspection. For a straight like-for-like panel replacement, plans are typically not required and a load calculation is not typically required unless added load or specific conditions trigger it (e.g., underground service entrance conduit, service-mast relocation, ampacity change above a threshold).
